Katharina Schmidt

Katharina Schmidt is a musician based in Berlin. Trained as a drummer, her main interests lie in indie and experimental music and – since reading Cage for the first time as a teenager – the idea of making music from environmental sounds has a special place in her heart.

She works with Cashmere Radio, SVS Radio, and Sonic Field, and holds a master’s degree in Sound Studies from the Berlin University of the Arts. Her work has been played internationally; generative works have been shown at galleries such as Kunstverein Braunschweig, Lehnbachhaus (Munich) and Lothringer 13 (Munich), while radiophonic pieces have been featured at festivals such as Radiophrenia and Borealis Festival.
